Race info 2010 Shoe Clinic Hawke's Bay Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km run / walk

Please be aware that normal road rules apply at all times

COURSE: We offer an interesting, picturesque and challenging measured and certified course of 42.195k, starting and finishing at the Havelock North Domain.
The half marathon event will be over the 2nd half of the marathon course through the Tuki Tuki valley. Participants for the half marathon event will be transported to the start from the Havelock North Domain.  Participants in the marathon and half marathon who have not reached 35km mark by 1.30pm will be removed from the course and will be unable to finish the event.

10KM EVENT: There will be no place prizes in this event. However, each entrant will be eligible for major and minor spot prizes. The 10km course will be unmarked and unmarshalled after 12 .00 midday.

ENTRIES:
Entries close on 20th August 2010 for all events.  Cheques should be made payable to; Run Walk Hawke’s Bay. Photocopies of the entry form will be accepted. Entries will also be accepted on line at www.runwalkhb.org.nz.

LATE ENTRIES: Entries dated after the 20th August 2010 will be subject to an additional admin fee of $10.00.

REFUNDS: Refund of entry fee (less a handling fee of $10) will be made on withdrawals notified up to 20th August 2010.  NO REFUNDS will be made after this date.

RACE PACKS: These will be available for collection from the Race Headquarters situated at the Start/Finish area at the Havelock North Domain in the Run Walk Hawke’s Bay clubrooms from 5.30pm to 7.00pm on Friday 3 September and on race day from 6.30am.

RACE NUMBERS:  Must be worn on the front of the participants T-shirt or singlet and be visible at all times.

START:
MARATHON: The start is at the Havelock North Domain, Napier Road Havelock North on Saturday 4th September. Marathon walkers will start at 7.30am.  Marathon runners will start at 8.30am.  If you expect to take longer than 5 hours as a runner you MUST start with the walkers.
HALF MARATHON:  Participants will be transported to the start. Buses will leave the Havelock North Domain at 9.30am on race day. ALL participants start at 10.00am.  Clothing not required for the event will be transported back to the finish line for collection.
10km EVENT: ALL participants will start at 10.30am from the Havelock North Domain
There will be a compulsory race briefing 5 minutes prior to each start time.

DRINK STATIONS: There will be manned water stations. Individual drinks will not be catered for.

MARATHON & HALF MARATHON WALKING SECTIONS:  These sections are for walkers only.  If you intend to walk run either of these events please enter as a runner. Nordic walking is excluded from this event, all other forms of walking including recreational and power walking are permitted.  However, those with a style that resembles jogging will be ‘promoted’ to the running section and will be eligible for spot prizes only. Participants in the marathon and half marathon who have not reached 35km mark by 1.30pm will be removed from the course and will be unable to finish the event.

10KM EVENT: Any form of walking/running are permitted with the exception of Nordic walking which is excluded. In the interest of safety we ask that the likes of bicycles, in-line skates and skateboards are not used.  Wheelchairs or pushchairs may be used at your own risk.  The 10km course will be unmarked and unmarshalled after 12 .30pm.

ALL EVENTS: Competitors must stay to the right hand side unless instructed by an official.  There are no road closures and normal road rules apply at all times.  Participants are also reminded to walk/run no more than two abreast and walk/run inside the marker cones at all times for safety reasons.

EVENT SHIRTS: Commemorative T-shirts are available for purchase.  These must be ordered before Friday, 20th August 2010.

PRIZE GIVING: minor spot prizes will be available for collection at the finish area. Prize giving will take place in the Havelock North Rugby Club rooms Anderson Park from 3.30pm.  Place prizes will be awarded in each category in the MARATHON ONLY. Recognition will be given to the first 3 men and women across the line in the half marathon and 10km walk and run. All finishers of the marathon, half marathon and 10km events will be eligible for minor and major spot prizes.  You must be present at prize giving to claim major spot prizes.
